According to the Coroner's Inquest in the SPRI archives, on 7 February Rasmussen was loading barrels of oil onto the "Tijuca". A shackle slipped and the boom fell onto his head. He died of his injuries 15 days later. One witness statement says "..he was well liked by all of us."
