Major Barratt Hamilton was a biologist,
researching whale biology at Leith, when he died of a heart attack.
This memorial was placed in the Grytviken church in 2005 to replace an earlier marble plaque that has
gone missing from the cemetery at Leith.
He was taken away on the Orwell and buried in Canada.
