Prince Olav Harbour cemetery

Description

The Prince Olav Harbour whaling station was established in 1911 by the Southern Whaling and Sealing Company, who based their factory ship Restitution there until 1916. A shore station was then operated until 1931. The small cemetery stands on top of a nearby hillside. At least one sealer's grave (John Anderson), pre-dating the whaling station, stands nearer the coast at Pig Point and accounts tell of other sealers' graves on the same site.
